Working from Home Guidelines
Little Gem Tours is a member of The Sustainable Tourism Network. We are committed to sustainability in all aspects of our operations, including our home office. We therefore encourage our employees, where possible and practical, to follow the following practices in their home office:
1. Health & Safety Guidelines
1.1 Vehicle Checks

At the beginning of your tour ensure vehicle is checked for the following:

1.3 Vehicle Maintenance at the beginning of each tour.
​

Ensure Windows are clean each day of the tour.

1.4 Emergency / Accident

1.4.1 - In the case of a serious accident / emergency please contact the relevant emergency services at the scene of the emergency primarily.

1.5 Issues and Queries on Tour
​
1.5.1 - If there are any issues or problems relating to accommodations, activities, guests and any other tour related issues during the tour please contact the relevant tour planner during office hours.
​
1.5.2 - On weekends there will be an office employee on call during office hours. The office staff on call each weekend will be communicated to all driver / guides prior to the weekend.
​
1.5.3 - If there are any issues and concerns with regards to the tour itineraries please communicate this to the tour planner prior to the tour.

1.6 Covid 19
​
Should a guest test positive for COVID 19 during the course of their tour please contact Robbie McGrane or Rosie Dooney immediately. As a driver guide you are not obliged to carry a guest who has tested positive for Covid 19 and each case will be dealt with on a case by case basis.

3. Responsible Tourism
Little Gem Tours encourages placing Responsible Tourism to the forefront of our business.
3.1 - Please read and become familiar with our Responsible Tourism page on our website.
​
3.2 - Please encourage a Do No Harm & Leave No Trace Travel policy with guests during the course of the tour.
Please ensure to read the Leave No Trace Skills and Etiquette Brochure.​
​
3.3 - We encourage visiting hidden gems and lesser known sights during the course of the tour as well as meeting locals where possible.
​
3.4 - Please visit our meet the locals page for inspiration. We always welcome new additions to meeting the locals along our routes.
​
3.5 - Please promote Ireland’s culture, heritage and history in an informed and honest manner.
​
3.6 - We encourage the use of HVO fuel on tour and will contribute towards costs as per the Little Gem HVO Incentivisation Scheme.
​
- Little Gem will cover the price difference between using regular diesel and HVO in the entire island of Ireland during Little Gem jobs.
​
- In addition, Little Gem will incentivise the use of HVO by contributing an additional 20 cents per litre on top of this price difference.
​
- When submitting an invoice, please include the receipt indicating HVO and a photo of the price at pumps to indicate the difference between regular and HVO prices.
​
5. Driver Guide Deposits And Cancellation Policy
5.1 - Upon booking of tours with driver guides, Little Gem will place a deposit to secure dates with driver guides.
​
5.2 - The value of deposit placed will vary depending on the tour and to be agreed upon reservation.
​
5.3 - If the tour is cancelled by Little Gem Tours 2 months or more the deposit is fully refundable.
​
5.4 - If the tour is cancelled by Little Gem within 2 months of the tour dates the deposit is non-refundable.
​
5.5 - If a tour is cancelled by the contracted driver guide at any time the deposit is fully refundable.

6. Payments
6.1 - Please send the official invoice within one week of completion of the tour.
​
6.2 - Include photos of receipts for any expenses.
​
6.3 - Please send a receipt by mail after payment is processed.

7. Little Gem Recommended Dress Code
7.1 - Little Gem tours is a private tour operator. We are not a chauffeur service. Therefore suits are not encouraged except for exceptional circumstances.
​
7.2 - Smart casual or an outdoors style of dress is recommended.
​
7.3 - It is recommended to wear the Little Gem branded sleeveless jacket whenever possible.

8. Reporting Tour Progress & Post Tour Follow Up
8.1 - If any issues arise during the tour please notify the tour planner immediately.

8.2 - Feedback must be provided post tour via email to the tours manager or managing director.

9. Working With The Little Gem Brand
9.1 - Contracted driver guides working with Little Gem Tours should act as white label contractors working under and promoting the Little Gem Brand only.
​
9.2 - Contracted driver guides should not promote their own business in any way to guests reserved by Little Gem Tours.
​
9.3 - Contracted driver guides should not use photographs of Little Gem guests profiles to promote their own business or any other business other than Little Gem Tours.
​
9.4 - Please read our Little Gem Guidelines for Creating Tour Content - Here
​
9.5 - We ask guides to promote Little Gem Tours by mentioning our Review Sites / Social Media, etc. during the course of your tour.
​
9.6 - Ensure to ask permission from guests before taking guests' photos.
Note: The guests already have granted permission to use photos for marketing purposes upon booking as per their terms and conditions unless otherwise stated.
​
9.7 - We ask that the contracted driver guide hands out any Little Gem Branded Promotional Material where received.
