5 Day Adventure

Day 1 - Dublin City to Doolin via The Cliffs of Moher

Main Highlights - The Cliffs of Moher, The Burren National Park, Wild Atlantic Way

This morning we will greet you at your hotel and begin our journey into the west with a drive across the rolling green fields of Ireland’s midlands stopping off at one of the most important monastic sites in the country, Clonmacnoise along the way to explore the beautiful Celtic Crosses.  After this stop, we will make our way to the rugged atlantic coast. Our first coastal stop will be at the colorful fishing village of Kinvara where we will visit Dunguaire Castle, a well-kept defensive structure that sits on the crook of the bay. We will then discover our first national park of Ireland - The Burren Geopark, a karst limestone plateau that reaches out to the sea.  Here we will walk the lunar landscape to the atlantic edge. We will also pass through some of Ireland’s prettiest villages where you will have plenty of opportunities to sample the local delicacies of chocolate, oysters and craft beers. We will then travel on the one of the wonders of Europe - The majestic Cliffs of Moher where we will enjoy beautiful cliff walks with views across to the famous wool-producing islands of Aran.  After the cliffs we will make our way to the musical village of Doolin, where we will spend our first night's rest.

Overnight - Lahinch, Co. Clare

Day 2 - Lahinch to The Dingle Peninsula via Connors Pass

Main Highlights - Loop Head, The Wild Atlantic Way, Connors Pass

Todays adventure will see us head south towards the world famous Dingle Peninsula. We will start with an early morning drive along the gleaming coastline of Clare to Kilkee, a popular holiday town wrapped around the perfect half-moon shaped beach.  We will continue our journey to the spectacular loop head lighthouse where light has shone out over the atlantic since the year 1670. We will also pay a visit to the Church of the Little Ark where we will see the portable ‘Church on Wheels’, used to hold mass on the beach in the late nineteenth century.  We will then make our way by ferry across the great Shannon estuary, where Ireland’s largest river flows into the sea with views to Scattery Island. Once back on dry land, we will drive through Kerry county to the lively market town of Listowel. The town square here boasts the interesting Kerry Writers Museum, set in a beautiful Georgian Townhouse, in addition to Listowel Castle.  We will then make our way to the Dingle Peninsula, passing the wonderful Blennerville Windmill in Tralee and the panoramic Inch Beach, where we can get the best view of the magnificent Iveragh Peninsula.  We will end our day with a picturesque drive to Dingle across the stunning Connor’s Pass and into Dinge town that has earned an unbeatable reputation for wonderful food, fresh ale and a wholesome atmosphere. ​

Overnight - Dingle, County Kerry

Day 3 - Dingle to Killarney via Slea Head Loop

Main Highlights: Slea Head Loop Drive, O’Connor’s Pass, Killarney

This morning we will take a day to explore the rolling green hills and crashing coastline of the Dingle Peninsula.  We will begin with an incredible scenic drive around Slea Head. This exhilarating road trip brings us along the most westernly point of Europe.  Here there are exceptional views of the Blasket Islands as well as archaeological wonders such as Dunbeg Promontory Fort and the mesmerizing Beehive huts.​  We will also visit the mysterious early Christian Gallarus Oratory and have options to visit the nearby famine cottages and the atmospheric Kilmalkedar Church where you will find an ancient Ogham Stone. We will then make our way across to the bustling Killarney Town where you will spend the night. Here you will be surrounded by bars and pubs full of music and craic.

Overnight - Killarney, Co. Kerry

Day 4 - Killarney to West Cork via The Killarney National Park

Main Highlights - The Ring of Cork & The Beara Peninsula, South West Atlantic Drive

Today is all about stunning scenery and delectable cuisine as we head east from Kerry into Cork along the Wild Atlantic Way.  We will begin the day with a visit to the elegant Muckross House, the nineteenth century Victorian mansion of the Herbert family, which overlooks the beautiful Killarney National Park. Here we will have time to explore the Victorian mansion and take a horse & cart around the scenic gardens to the hidden abbey. The breathtaking drive along Lough Leane will lead us deeper into the National Park where you can enjoy the outstanding landscape from stops such as Ladies View and Molls Gap. We will then cross over the base of the Beara Peninsula into County Cork, a place fast becoming known for its homegrown cuisine and in particular its sumptuous cheeses.  Our stops in the colourful villages of along the journey will offer you the perfect opportunity to sample the local stock. We will also have the option to visit the impressive Charles fort, a star-shaped defensive structure which clings to the water’s edge in Kinsale. Here in Kinsale we will spend our last night along the Wild Atlantic Way.

Overnight - Kinsale, Co. Cork

Day 5 - West Cork to Dublin via Ireland’s Ancient East

Main Highlights - Blarney Castle, Cork City, Kilkenny City

We will begin our final morning of the tour in leaving the Wild Atlantic Way and making our way south back to Dublin. We will have the options of visiting Cork City where we will introduce you to the city’s main attractions such as the English Market, Shandon Bells Tower and Cork Opera House.  You will also have the option to visit the world famous Blarney Castle where you can kiss the Blarney Stone to obtain the ‘gift of the gab’.  From here we will visit the Medieval City of Kilkenny to soak up the city’s charming atmosphere.  Here you can walk the cobbled streets, browsing the various local craft stores and choose between several activities - a tour of the well-preserved 13th century castle, a visit to the legendary Smithwicks Brewery and a chance to explore St.Canice’s Cathedral and 11th century Round Tower.  We will depart Kilkenny, through the horse county of Kildare and arrive back to Dublin City in the evening providing you with all the information you need to explore and enjoy our thriving capital city.
