The Tour

The Irish Rebellion Tour is a unique tour experience. The tour takes you on a journey through centuries of Irish history of war and rebellion.

 

From the rebel strongholds of the forested Wicklow mountains to the streets of armed conflict in Dublin city to the final resting place of some of Ireland's most heroic rebels this tour will give you a deep insight into Ireland's turbulent past whilst also showing you the sights of Dublin and it's surroundings.

The Itinerary

9:00   Pick up ftom chosen location.

 

  • We will begin the tour with a Historical Walking tour of Dublin CIty that will last approximatelty 2 hours after which we will get a bite to eat and head to the next stage of the tour.

 

  • Stage 2 will be a professionally guided tour of Kilmainham Jail. This excellent tour will last approximately 1 hour taking you into the infamous prison.

 

  • We will continue with a beautiful scenic drive into the Wicklow Mountains National Park. Driving the military roads and hearing the stories of the rebel hideouts along the way.

 

  • Finally we will end with a stroll through the lakes and forests of Glendalough - The Valley of the 2 Lakes and one of the most serene and tranquil settings of Ireland.

The Tour Highlights

Stage 1 - Dublin City

Historical Walking Tour 

Our tour begins with breakfast followed by a one and half hour historical walking tour of Dublin City. Walk through the locations of the 1916 Easter Rising. Hear the stories and histories of the rebels. Visit Dublin Castle, Temple Bar, O'Connell Street and finish where the rebels signed a truce bringing an end to the famous Easter Rebellion.

This excellent walking tour will tell you the stories of a city with a long and turbulent history and will bring you back in time to when Dublin city was at war the the British empire.

 

You will then be met by luxury transport and brought onto the next part of our rebellion tour...

Stage 2 - Kilmainham Jail

A Guided Tour

The tour continues with a fully guided tour of one of the highest rated cultural experiences in Dublin City - Kilmainham Jail. Visit the cells of the rebels of 1916 and the stonebreakers yard. Follow the final footsteps of the Irish heroes.

 

The tour is fully guided by expert resident guides of Kimainham Jail who give a detailed account of some of the most famous ex inmates of the jail including Anne Devlin, Padraig Pearse, Thomas Clarke and many more.

 

The tour will last approximately one hour and will also take you into the sombre stonebreakers yard the place of execution of the rebels.

Stage 3 - The Wicklow Mountains

Drive & Walk the National Park

The final stage of the tour is a journey up into the beautiful Wicklow Mountains National Park to catch some fresh Irish air. 

 

The national park is the most forested area of Ireland and it was these forests that offered safe haven for Irish rebels including Michael Dwyer, said to be the inspiration for Michael Collins guerrila war campaign.

 

The tour takes you the areas where the seeds of rebellion were sown. Travel the military road and trek through the beautiful national park. Explore the lakes of Glendalough and discover the magic of the garden of Ireland - Wicklow.
